Intro

Hello! My name is Nick Sica. I am a rising senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I am majoring in Computer Science and History. My goal is to become a Computer Scientist with a speciality in Cybersecurity, but I am completely open to learning about different sectors such as Data Science and AI. This History major is because I love to learn about the past, how we can learn from it and how it can ultimately shape our future.

I have completed many internships (which you can find in my work tab). These internships have granted me incredible experience in the industry already.

Cybersecurity Engineer Intern - Peraton

Assist with Mission Software Factory (MSF) Internal Research and Development (IRAD) project

Code Sensei - Code Ninjas

Assisted and tutored children (ages 7-14) the fundamentals of coding using the Code Ninajs curriculum. Taught students Java, Lua and C#

College Technical Intern - Northrop Grumman

Researched Software Defined Networking (SDN) and the vulnerabilities associated with it in the implementation of 5G networks. A member of a team that used Linux virtual environments to setup a virtual SDN using mininet and attacked the network to exploit vulnerabilities. We used Python scripts and attacks such as DDos, MITM, TCP Hijacking and more. We then analyzed the data and helped develop plans and mitigation techniques to address the vulnerabilities. Reported findings in a company white paper.

Software Engineer Intern - Mahlet Consulting

Used Python, Linux, API's and more to work on projects and systems for the company. Worked on algorithms and large scale networking projects that used FPGAs and embedded software. I collaborated effectively with the members of the development team and personnel in other departments. Produced clean, validation ready code. Wrote documentation for the code and other projects Used DevOps software and tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Docker and more. Learned about Agile and Scrum teams and environemnts in the workplace
